Pledging Alpha Pi Phi: Jessica’s Story

I went through a period last semester where I questioned whether or not I was completely happy. Was I truly satisfied with the life I had created at Brock within the last year and a half? The answer was no, so after some creative Facebook creeping searching I found Alpha Pi Phi.
I wish I could say it was smooth sailing from there on however I tried to talk my self out of this a million times. After attending my first Rush event I knew I found the missing piece of the puzzle. The girls were so sweet and friendly I could not believe it. I was scared to Rush because I thought I wouldn’t fit in to the typical “sorority girl” image (which by the way does not exist outside movies) but these feelings disappeared the day we cleaned our adopted road. This event showed me that these girls not only talked the talk but also walked the walk.
On January 25, 2013 I pledged Alpha Pi Phi with 12 other wonderful ladies creating Delta Class. The last few weeks have been life changing and dream like, as I get to know all the sisters I have truly confirmed that this was meant to be. Getting to know my Big Kim has been fantastic and I already can’t imagine life without her. I look forward to all the memories we are going to create. It is amazing to know that each and everyone one of the sisters is someone I look up to and admire.

Pledging is the best decision I have ever made and I have absolutely no regrets about a single thing. When I get my letters in the near future I will officially be a part of a life changing organization and have more sisters than I will know what to do with
Jess and her Big Kim :)

Founding Sister Miranda Talks About Relay For Life

This past Friday, my Alpha Pi Phi sisters, pledges and I participated in Brock’s Relay for Life to raise money for cancer research. I’m so proud to say that we beat our goal and raised over $600!
Raising money by doing the Relay for Life is a very important cause to me, as well as many of the other sisters. In fact, I am unsure that I know someone who hasn't been affected in some way or another by cancer. My Grandpa and Pepere have passed away due to cancer and my Grandma and older Sister are both cancer survivors. It has a horrible affect on families and friends so raising money for this cause could not be more important to me! On the Relay for Life website, they talk about this night celebrating cancer survivors and paying tribute to loved ones and I couldn’t be happier to be taking part in this event, especially with my sisters!
At the event, we stayed up for 12 hours walking the track and participating in events such as yoga, movies, playing basketball, a presentation by Dan who is a cancer survivor, playing cards, hanging out with the ΖΨ brothers and tons of other activities. We also got to listen to the entertainment which was amazing!
As a founder of APP Sorority, one of our first philanthropy events was a Relay for Life and when our philanthropy chair, Alexa, announced that this year we were supporting this cause again, I couldn't have been happier! It's amazing to have so many supportive girls raising money for such an amazing cause :) I’m so proud to be a part of this awesome and strong group of girls because we are making a difference and raising awareness! Altogether, everyone participating at Brock’s Relay for Life raised $11,001.41!

A Message From Founding Sister Jenna

Hi all!! Jenna, founding sister, here! I just wanted to write a quick blog to say how proud I am of everything Beta Chapter has accomplished in less than two years! It’s pretty amazing! Alpha-Beta-and-Gamma class! It is absolutely amazing to come to an event and see 30+ smiling faces greet me!

We recently pledged 11 beautiful and wonderful ladies for our Gamma class! Gamma class already – WOW?!?! These ladies all stand for the qualities of love, loyalty and friendship! These girls stand for grace, dignity and academic excellence. Every single one of these astonishing, young women brings something unique and beautiful to Alpha Pi Phi. One brings simple elegance, another brings a Latina twist, while another brings a crazy personality that just you just can’t help but always smile at, just to name a few.

It is absolutely amazing that feeling you get when you go home and visit your high school and wear your letters or that feeling when you find out who you’re BIG is and even the feeling when you finally decide that this sorority is the one for you. I would like to think that Alpha Pi Phi has influenced and enhanced every single one of these beautiful ladies lives in the best way ever! For me, there is no doubt and there never was! Alpha Pi Phi is my family away from home! My best friends and my sisters for life!

Phi Love Always,
Sister Jenna E.

A message from Alexa, a member of our newly initiated Alpha Class!

Winter Rush is fast approaching!! I hope you're all as excited as we are :) We recently initiated our Alpha Class and have a message from our newly initiated sister, Alexa, to anyone who is interested in Rushing!

First of all a loud shout out to all of the Rushes that are interested in becoming a part of Alpha Pi Phi!!!!! I first found out about Alpha Pi Phi during the summer before this term started. I was a first year that barely new anyone here and I was very doubtful that my first year would be very special. I had struggled a lot with myself over the years and had been through a whirlwind of events that left me feeling quite alone. When I met the founding sisters for the first time I felt this instant connection and this flicker of happiness that I knew had always been inside me and it started to reappear.
Learning about Alpha Pi Phi more and participating in Rush really reinforced my need to be a part of the sorority. The other pledges at the time and my now new sisters are the most amazing people I could have ever asked for. I never thought that a sisterhood could bind people together as closely as it has for me. The sorority and the sisterhood are sacred and they are the most important aspects to my life today. I feel like the sorority keeps me together when I feel like I’m falling apart.
I wanted to join to meet new people, get involved in the community, and put my academics first but I found out so much more about myself and my sisters. This experience doesn’t end after four years of university. After that it’s only the beginning because lifelong friendships, secrets, love, and loyalty are not for a moment but for forever. I am proud and ever so happy that I know what having best friends forever feels like, as cheesy as it sounds.
I know the founding sisters are excited to start Rush as well as myself and my sisters in Alpha class. We can’t wait to meet you and bring out the best in every one of you.
Φ love,
